And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
