The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
