Joseph (Yousuf)
111 verses, revealed in Mecca after Hood (Hood) before The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
AlifLaamRa. Those are the verses of the Clear Book. 1 Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 2 We narrate unto thee (Muhammad) the best of narratives in that We have inspired in thee this Qur'an, though aforetime thou wast of the heedless. 3 When Joseph said to his father, 'Father, I saw eleven stars, and the sun and the moon; I saw them bowing down before me.' 4 He said, "O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers or they will contrive against you a plan. Indeed Satan, to man, is a manifest enemy. 5 You shall be chosen by your Lord and He will impart to you some understanding of the inner meaning of events. He will bestow the full measure of His blessings upon you and upon the House of Jacob -- even as He formerly bestowed it in full measure upon your forefathers, Abraham and Isaac. Truly, your Sustainer is all-knowing and wise!" 6
