The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif-Lam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Bethink men that they shall be left alone because they say: we believe; and that they shall not be tempted? 2 We indeed tested those before them – so Allah will surely test the truthful, and will surely test the liars. 3 Or do they reckon, those who do evil deeds, that they will outstrip Us? Ill they judge! 4 Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. 5 And whosoever striveth, striveth only for himself, for lo! Allah is altogether Independent of (His) creatures. 6 As for those who believe and do good works, We shall acquit them of their sins, and recompense them with the best for what they were doing. 7 We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents; but if they try to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, then do not obey them. You have to come back to Us, when I will tell you what you used to do. 8 We shall admit those who believe and do the right among the righteous. 9 And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allah, they consider the trial of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allah most knowing of what is within the breasts of all creatures? 10 Allah will surely ascertain who are the believers and who are the hypocrites. 11 And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Follow our path and we will bear your wrongs. And never shall they be the bearers of any of their wrongs; most surely they are liars. 12 They shall certainly carry their loads, and other loads along with their loads, and upon the Day of Resurrection they shall surely be questioned concerning that they were forging. 13
