And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 and sailed away in a laden ship, wherein people cast lots. Because he lost, he was thrown into the water. 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 And verily we! we hallow. 166 They used to say before: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
