O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they split in their affair between them into sects, each party rejoicing in what is with them. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 those, hasten in good works, outracing to them. 61 On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing; 63 Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. 64 (We shall say): 'Do not groan today, surely you shall receive no help from Us' 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray, 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
