A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 And in the shadow of a burning smoke. 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 They had been affluent before, 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 did you create it or did We? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 'We are debt-loaded; 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
