The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
