Say thou: O people of the Book! come to a word common between us and between you; that we shall worship none save Allah and that we shall not associate aught with Him, and that none of you shall take others as Lords beside Allah. Then if they turn away, say: bear witness that verily we are Muslims. 64 Ye People of the Book! Why dispute ye about Abraham, when the Law and the Gospel Were not revealed Till after him? Have ye no understanding? 65 Behold! you are they who disputed about that of which you had knowledge; why then do you dispute about that of which you have no knowledge? And Allah knows while you do not know. 66 Abraham was neither a "Jew" nor a "Christian", but was one who turned away from all that is false, having surrendered himself unto God; and he was not of those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him. 67 Undoubtedly among all mankind who have the best claim to Ibrahim are those who followed him, and this Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) and the believers; and Allah is the Guardian of the believers. 68 Some among the people of the Book wish to lead you astray, yet they lead none astray but themselves, though they do not realise. 69 People of the Book! Why do you disbelieve the verses of Allah while you are witness? 70 O people of the Book! wherefore confound ye the truth with falsehood, and hide the truth while ye know? 71
