Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
