The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
