The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
