The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
