The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
