The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and banana trees, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
