Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Verily We! We sent Nuh unto his people saying: warn thy people ere there come unto them torment afflictive. 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 "'What is amiss with you that you cannot look forward to God's majesty, 13 Knowing that He has created you by various stages? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
