Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
