Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Clear Book, 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
