The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
