The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
