He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
