The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 you strive in various ways. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
