Is it not an indication to those who inherit the land after its people (who thus reaped the consequence of evil-doing) that, if We will, We can smite them for their sins and print upon their hearts so that they hear not? 100 We have told you the stories of those towns: their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they were never going to believe in something they had already rejected. Thus God seals up the hearts of those who deny the truth. 101 We found most of them untrue to their covenants, indeed We found most of them to be defiant. 102 Then after them We sent Musa (Moses) with Our Signs to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them. So see how was the end of the Mufsidun (mischief-makers, corrupts, etc.). 103 Moses said, 'Pharaoh, I am a Messenger from the Lord of all Being, 104 incumbent upon me is that I say nothing of Allah except the truth. I bring you a clear proof from your Lord. So let the Children of Israel depart with me' 105 He said: if thou hast brought a sign, forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 106 Thereupon he cast down his rod, when, lo it was a serpent manifest. 107 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white to the beholders. 108
