The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
