Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He created pairs, the male and the female 45 From Nutfah (drops of semen male and female discharges) when it is emitted; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 He plunged the villages 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
