The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
