The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
