And we sent Moses, with Our Clear (Signs) and an authority manifest, 96 Towards Firaun and his court members, thereupon they followed the commands of Firaun; and the work of Firaun was not proper. 97 He shall stand at the head of his people on the Day of Resurrection, and will bring them down to the Fire. What a wretched destination to be led to! 98 seeing that they were pursued by [God's] rejection in this [world,] and [shall be finally overtaken by it] on the Day of Resurrection; [and] vile was the gift which they were given! 99 That is from the stories of the cities which We recount unto thee: of them some are standing and some mown down. 100 for, no wrong did We do to them, but it was they who wronged themselves. And when thy Sustainer's judgment came to pass, those deities of theirs which they had been wont to invoke instead of God proved of no avail whatever to them, and brought them no more than utter perdition. 101 And even such is the overtaking of thy Lord when He overtaketh the cities while they are wrong-doers; verily His overtaking is afflictive, severe. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this for him who fears the chastisement of the hereafter; this is a day on which the people shall be gathered together and this is a day that shall be witnessed. 103 during a single day. We have deferred this day for an appointed time. 104 and when that Day arrives, no soul shall speak but by His leave. Among those some shall be damned, and others shall be blessed. 105 So as to those who are unhappy, they shall be in the fire; for them shall be sighing and groaning in it: 106 therein to abide as long as the heavens and the earth endure - unless thy Sustainer wills it otherwise: for, verily, thy Sustainer is a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 107 ۞ But as for those who [by virtue of their past deeds] will have been blest with happiness, [they shall live] in paradise, therein to abide as long as the heavens and the earth endure - unless thy Sustainer wills it otherwise - as a gift unceasing. 108 So be not thou in doubt concerning that which these (folk) worship. They worship only as their fathers worshipped aforetime. Lo! we shall pay them their whole due unabated. 109
