And a sign unto them is the dead land. We quicken it and thereout We bring forth grain, so that thereof they eat. 33 And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein. 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Holy is He Who created all things in pairs, whether it be of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they do not know. 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in a sphere. 40 And an Ayah (sign) for them is that We bore their offspring in the laden ship [of Nuh (Noah)]. 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 And if We list, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout for them, nor will they be saved. 43 It is only Our Mercy (that rescues them) and enables enjoyment of life for a while. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 Yet there never comes to them any sign of their Lord's signs, but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: expend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: shall we feed those whom God Himself would have fed, if He listed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 They say, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 Then they cannot make bequest, nor can they return to their own folk. 50
