The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
