The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
