Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
