The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
