The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
