Fir'awn said unto the chiefs around him: verily this is a magician knowing. 34 He wants to expel you from your land through his magic. What is your opinion?" 35 They said: "Put him and his brother off awhile, and send summoners to the cities to gather 36 and summon every skillful magician from all the cities." 37 So the sorcerers were assembled for the appointed time of a fixed day. 38 and the people were asked: Are you all present, 39 "That we may follow the sorcerers [who were on Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) religion of disbelief] if they are the winners." 40 Now when the sorcerers came, they said unto Pharaoh: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail. 41 "Yes," he replied. "You 'will be among the honoured." 42 Moosa said to them, “Cast whatever you intend to cast.” 43 Thereupon they threw down their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh, we shall prevail." 44 Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all the falsehoods which they showed! 45 And the wizards were flung prostrate, 46 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 47 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 48 Pharaoh said: "You accepted the word of Moses even before I granted you the leave to do so. Surely he is your chief who has taught you magic. Soon shall you come to know. I shall cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides and shall crucify all of you." 49 They said: "We do not care, for we are bound to return to our Lord, 50 We certainly hope our Lord will forgive our sins as we are the first to believe." 51
