The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
