a large throng from the ancients, 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And those on the left - how are those on the left! 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 “We have been penalised; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Consider the fire that you strike and get by friction. 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
