Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
