He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fears (Allah), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
