Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
ALL PRAISE is due to God, who has created the heavens and the earth, and brought into being deep darkness as well as light: and yet, those who are bent on denying the truth regard other powers as their Sustainer's equals! 1 It is He Who has created you from clay, and then decreed a term for you; and it is a fixed promise before Him, yet you still doubt! 2 And He is Allah (the God) of the heavens and in the earth; He knows all, your secrets and your disclosures, and He knows your deeds. 3 And not a sign cometh unto them of the signs of their Lord but that therefrom they have been backsliders. 4 They cried lies to the truth when it came to them, but there shall come to them news of that they were mocking. 5 Have they not seen how many a people We have destroyed before them? People whom We had made more powerful in the earth than you are and upon them We showered from the heavens abundant rains, and at whose feet We caused the rivers to flow? And then (when they behaved ungratefully) We destroyed them for their sins, and raised other peoples in their place. 6 (Muhammad), had We sent you a Book on paper, the unbelievers would have touched it with their hands but would still have said, "It is no more than plain sorcery". 7 They say: "How is it no angel was sent down to him?" Had We sent an angel down the matter would have come to end, and they would have had no respite. 8 And if We had made him an angel, We would have made him [appear as] a man, and We would have covered them with that in which they cover themselves. 9 Messengers have been mocked before you, but those who scoffed were overtaken by the very thing they scoffed at. 10
