Why, is he who was dead, and We gave him life, and appointed for him a light to walk by among the people as one whose likeness is in the shadows, and comes not forth from them? So it is decked out fair to the unbelievers the things they have done. 122 In every town We have placed some sinful leaders who always make evil plans. These plans will only work against their own souls but they do not realize this. 123 And whenever a [divine] message comes to them, they say: "We shall not believe unless we are given the like of what God's apostles were given!" [But] God knows best upon whom to bestow His message. Abasement in the sight of God will befall those who have become guilty of evildoing, and suffering severe for all the schemes which they were wont to weave. 124 So whoever Allah wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islam; and whoever He wants to misguide - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe. 125 This is the straight path leading to your Lord. We have made the signs clear for thinking men. 126 ۞ For them is the abode of peace with their Lord. He will be their Protecting Friend because of what they used to do. 127 And on the day when He shall gather them all together: O assembly of jinn! you took away a great part of mankind. And their friends from among the men shall say: Our Lord! some of us profited by others and we have reached our appointed term which Thou didst appoint for us. He shall say: The fire is your abode, to abide in it, except as Allah is pleased; surely your Lord is Wise, Knowing. 128 Thus do We place some sinners over others as requital for their deeds. 129
