A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you, let there be no heaviness in your heart about it, so that you may warn by means of it and it is a reminder to the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 And how many a town that We destroyed, so Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 Then verily We shall question those unto whom (Our message) hath been sent, and verily We shall question the messengers. 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 and those whose good deeds are light [in the balance] will be the ones who have lost themselves because they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
