A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 [Say (O Muhammad SAW) to these idolaters (pagan Arabs) of your folk:] Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Quran and Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah), and follow not any Auliya' (protectors and helpers, etc. who order you to associate partners in worship with Allah), besides Him (Allah). Little do you remember! 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. 8 and those whose good deeds are light [in the balance] will be the ones who have lost themselves because they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
