A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 How many towns We have destroyed. Our scourge fell upon them by night or at midday when they were resting: 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 Then verily We shall question those unto whom (Our message) hath been sent, and verily We shall question the messengers. 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 And the weighing on that Day is certain, then whosesoever balances will be heavy, those! they shall fare well. 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 And certainly We have established you in the earth and made in it means of livelihood for you; little it is that you give thanks. 10
