A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem-Saad. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 (It is) a Scripture that is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) - so let there be no heaviness in thy heart therefrom - that thou mayst warn thereby, and (it is) a Reminder unto believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. 8 As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
