A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 Then shall We question those to whom Our message was sent and those through whom We sent it 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 whereas those whose weight is light in the balance - it is they who will have squandered their own selves by their wilful rejection of Our messages. 9 And indeed We established you in the earth and in it created for you the means of livelihood; very little thanks do you offer! 10
