A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 Most certainly then We will question those to whom (the apostles) were sent, and most certainly We will also question the apostles; 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 And as for those whose scale will be light, they are those who will lose their ownselves (by entering Hell) because they denied and rejected Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 9 We established you in the earth and made for you a livelihood but little is it that you give thanks. 10
