A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 A Book sent down to thee -- so let there be no impediment in thy breast because of it -- to warn thereby, and as a reminder to believers: 2 Follow that which is sent down toward you from your Lord, and follow not any patrons beside Him; yet little ye are admonished. 3 And many a township did We destroy – so Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing: those whose scales are heavy will prosper. 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 And surely, We gave you authority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (for your life). Little thanks do you give. 10
