A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeemSaad. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you by your Lord and do not follow any protector other than Him. How seldom you take heed. 3 How many towns We have destroyed. Our scourge fell upon them by night or at midday when they were resting: 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers. 6 Then surely We will recount unto them with knowledge, and We have not been absent. 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
