A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 [O men!] Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and follow no masters other than Him. Little are you admonished. 3 How many a village have We laid in ruin! In the night Our Might fell upon it, or at midday when they were drowsy. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 Then We will surely question those to whom were the messengers sent, and We will surely question the sent ones. 6 and We shall relate to them with knowledge; assuredly We were not absent. 7 And the measuring out on that day will be just; then as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is heavy, those are they who shall be successful; 8 and those whose scales are light will be the losers, for they, are the ones who have been unjust to Our signs. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
